Koala

The Koala ( Phascolarctos cinereus ) is one kind of mammals. Koala is one the best known animal in Australia . Koala is found in eastern and southern Autralia. Someone refer to koala as a bear, actually koala is not bear.

Koala consume eucalyptus leaves. Koala will eat the leaves of a wide of eucalypts. Sometimes koala eat different leaves, such as Acacia, Leptospermum and Melaleuca. Koala spend time about three hours eating. Koala eat an average of 500 g of eucalypt leaves each day.

Koala lives on eucalypts trees, coastal island and low woodland. Koala has a low metabolic rate, so koala rest about 16 - 18 hours a day. Koala sleep most of that time. Koala can live as long as 17 years. For lower male, will life about 2 – 10 years. Koala is a slow moving animals, so predator could catch easily. Koala is aggressive toward each other. Koala will be angry if the other disturb .

Today, many habitats of koala lost. It happened because of many reason. For example illegal logging with the forest fires, disaster, poor management, attacks with other animals, and diseases. So, we must keep our world and save the animals.
